The city of Oloron-Sainte-Marie has just got the label "City of art and history" awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Communication to local communities which feel like valorising their patrimony, developing the architectural creation and promoting the quality in the built or installed spaces.

We congratulate and thank very much the team of the mayor and the tourist office for this success which will play an important part in developing the discovery of our beautiful city.

The 2007 Tour de France will have a long 3 day call in Béarn. On Tuesday, July 24th, the riders will have a day-off in Pau and its surroundings before continuing the day after, on Wednesday, July 25th, with a mountain stage which will undoubtedly be a real show between Orthez and Gourette. Here is the profile of the race : To end up its trip in the Pyrénées, the Tour de France’s caravane will leave Pau on Thursday, July 26th to Castel-Sarrazin.

This was announced by its director Hubert Auriol himself, during the award ceremony for the trophee of the best sportman tof the year in Oloron.

This motorcycle raid is a come back to the famous Paris/Dakar ride. Two legendary motorcycle models will compete: the YAMAHA 500 XT and the BMW GS.

 

So Oloron has the luck to welcome the only special French race of this raid (and one of the two European races). This event will take place on March, 7th, 2007.
